Sometimes, the motor parameters provided by a producer in a datasheet can be slightly different from the parameter values of an acquired motor. The paper presents some identification methods of an interior permanent magnet synchronous motor: when the motor is in idle running or when a load is provided by a servo-motor connected in the same shaft. Specific tests were conducted in order to precisely detect the flux provided by the magnets. The exact values of motor parameters, such as the phase resistance or inductance, or the magnetic flux, are necessary for the control schemes. Such a control scheme is used for a motor implied in positioning systems. An example of a motor identification procedure is provided for a hail suppression positioning system. The drive motor used for the azimuth direction is tested.
