Corrosion behavior of pure iron in 1M HC1 as a function of schiff base concentration and electronics

Pure iron has been investigated in 1M HC1 solution at room temperature as a function of Schiff base electronics and concentration. Corrosion techniques that have been employed included cyclic polarization measurements, polarization resistance (R_p) vs. time measurements, and EIS measurements. The Schiff base is dissolved in 1 mL of DMSO (dimethyl sulfoxide) prior to be adding to 1M HC1. Initial results show while some bases do not show any improvement in the corrosion resistance over the tested concentration range, others do enhance the corrosion resistance. Upon the completion of the tests, a correlation between the Schiff bases electronics and concentrations, and their inhibition efficiency should be established.
