For protection of steel in industrial applications, there still a need for development of particularly designed inhibitors. In most cases, the conditions of corrosive environment involve mixture formulations which combine all the requirements: scale prevention, surface protection etc. Otherwise, the formation of scale is inevitable and the surface is polluted by corrosion products. In practical applications, various inorganic compounds (phosphate, molibdate etc.) have been utilized as corrosion inhibitor for steel protection, with the assistance of certain co-additives. It would be better to employ single inhibitor compound which is capable for acting like a chelating agent and film forming on steel surface. In this context, it was anticipated that (2-Aminoethyl)-carbamodithioic acid should exhibit peerless impact on steel corrosion, since possessing metal-chelating property. The influence of this compound on steel corrosion was investigated in acidic environment. For understanding the inhibition mechanism, concentration and temperature parameters were studied, with help of electrochemical measurements. Besides, field emission scanning electron microscopy and solution assay analysis were realized, for justification of results obtained from electrochemical data. Inhibition efficiency was calculated as 93.23% for 500 ppm inhibitor containing conditions, at 25°C. Moreover, the inhibition efficiency was increased with temperature which was measured as 98.36% efficiency for 55°C.
