Protection systems for helicopters, today and tomorrow

The aeronautic industry has nowadays to tackle several aspects regarding anti-corrosion protection systems, as it has to rethink its way to protect the aircrafts whose parts are treated in Europe (PvEACH-regulation); predict the behaviour of these new protection systems in their multiple utilization environment; and increase the efficiency of these protections when necessary (counterbalancing the absence of leaching on a damaged part). In such challenging period, Airbus Helicopters dedicates big efforts to qualify and implement new protections prior to the REACh sunset date - both for availability internally and in the supply chain -; increase the knowledge of the environment in why customers operate their aircrafts in order to better predict part behaviour at laboratory level and tailor the corrosion protection accordingly; and finally develop best-practices for systems and sub-systems via trans-programmes crosscheck on anti-corrosion, including return of experience, and via maturity programmes. These running activities aim at preparing the future of anti-corrosion protections for helicopter applications; and offer to our customers the best technical solution for their aircrafts.
