The amounts of data collected from industrial processes are increasing with advancements in today's technology. Modern computer systems are capable of saving data with much longer history lengths and much faster sampling rates than ever before. This raises a relevant and important question; what to do with all this data? Business to consumer companies have utilized big data analysis approach for several years successfully with the data they collect from their customer transactions. The obvious aim is to find a competitive edge compared to their rivals. Industrial business to business companies are not on the same level yet, but the ever increasing competition forces them to fine tune their manufacturing processes. Companies are forced to produce better quality in larger amounts faster and at the same time reduce energy consumption and raw material costs. These problems can be solved with an approach that lets the user find answers to questions about the manufacturing process based on measured real time series data. The data is already there; this presentation shows how to apply efficient data handling methods to reveal the potential beneath the data.
