Test Methods for Evaluating Grease and Mineral Oil Barriers

Test method for grease barrier is operator independent and provides both visual results and numerical values for grease penetration, 3. Grease barrier against various greases and oils can be measured at different temperatures and using preselected test intervals, 4. Mineral oil migration is measured using compounds in gas phase corresponding to relevant conditions in packaging for e.g. ranking of barrier samples, 5. Reduction in adsorbed amounts of C16 to absorbent was found for all coatings and films except for polyethylenes and a commercial inner pouch film from a cereal package.
