We experimentally demonstrate that soft materials can be incorporated in silicon slot photonic crystal waveguides and hence can benefit from both slow-light field enhancement effect and slot-induced ultra-small effective areas. We show that their frequency dispersion properties can be tailored with a nearly on-demand ultra-flat band, normal or anomalous dispersion in the near infrared around λ = 1570 nm with Normalized Delay Bandwidth Product as high as 0.173.
