Reading microexpressions can benefit technical communicators

摘要

The aim of this brief paper is to further demonstrate the need to consider listening approaches as necessary skills for technical communicators, to define microexpressions as a legitimate science of perception, establish the appropriate psychological history of microexpressions to position, relate, and create a technical communication niche for reading microexpressions, and argue the benefits of teaching and learning these soft skills. Further research needs to be done to better understand the connection between these soft skills and the technical communications professional. The purpose of this paper is to convince technical communicators to recognize that learning to read facial expressions and microexpressions can save time and add a valuable skill to the professional lives of technical communicators.
