Perceptions and Utilization of a Learning Management System: An Analysis from Two Perspectives

This explorative study captured the subjective experiences and perceptions of faculty members and students regarding to the implementation of a new technology enhanced learning program in one university. Strategies used in the data collection included a custom-made set of online surveys, followed by informal interviews with faculty members and students. The findings showed some disparity exists between the experiences and perceptions of faculty and students with regards to some of the factors of the blended learning implementation. Since these experiences and perceptions define the attitudes of these two stakeholders in using the learning management system (LMS), addressing the disparity will be beneficial to encourage the productive use of this technology and crucial in the sustainable integration of LMS into the curriculum of this higher education institution (HEI).
