摘要

The tribological performances of PEEK composite coatings were better than that of pure PEEK coating. This has been attributed presence of Alumina and Silica nanoparticles, which were evenly distributed in PEEK coating. These nanoparticles prevented the asperities of upper samples from penetrating the surfaces of PEEK, and relieved the deformation of the surfaces as well as the plowing effect. Under the conditions used in the present study, PEEK/Al_2O_3 composite coating demonstrated optimum tribological properties and hence, could be taken as a potential candidate to be applied as bearing material for artificial cervical disc.
