Simulation-based characterization of piezoceramic materials

The contribution deals with an approach enabling the complete characterization of piezoceramic materials. This so-called inverse method is based on comparisons of numerical simulations and measurements for the frequency-resolved electrical impedance of two block-shaped test samples. Thereby, the data set of the investigated piezoceramic material is adapted iteratively until simulations match measurements. Exemplary results for a lead-based piezoceramic material (PIC255 from PI Ceramics) reveal that the inverse method provides a reliable data set, which can be utilized for various sample geometries and configurations.
