1. In the Zn-Ni system, the electrodeposited γ phase exhibits different structural and thermodynamic properties in comparison with the equilibrium y phase. 2. Assumption of random atomic distribution in the electrodeposited phase is consistent with XRD data and enthalpy change. 3. Free-energy curve of the electrodeposited alloy provides phase stability fields in reasonable agreement with experimental data reported in the literature. 4. Alkaline and acid electrolytes with proper additives allow to deposit high performance ZnNi γ phase 5. Pulse plating can produce high performance ZnNi γ phase coatings in additive free baths.
