Degradation phenomena of bronze artefacts in coastal archaeological environments of the Mediterranean basin

摘要

This paper focuses on the soil corrosion of ancient brass (aurichalcum) in marine and coastal archaeological environments across the Mediterranean basin. It consists part of a critical review on case-studies, methodologies and protocols established and published during the European program with the acronym EFESTUS and attempts to integrate new electrochemical and chemical investigations with relevant previous works in a common ground.
