Mesoporous single crystal(MSC) ZnS and ZnO were first used as catalysts for thermal decomposition of ammonium perchlorate (AP).MSC ZnS and ZnO were prepared by a heat treatment of precursor ZnS(en)0.5, which was synthesized by a solvothermal method.Their phases, morphologies, and specific surface areas were characterized by XRD, SEM, TEM, and BET tests, respectively.Their topological transition process from ZnS(en)0.5 to MSC ZnS and ZnO was discussed.Importantly, MSC ZnS showed an excellent catalytic activities of decreasing high thermal decomposition temperature of AP decomposition from 397°C to 292°C, and reducing the activity energy from 151 kJ mol-1 to 111 kJ mol-1.This was attributed to an increase in the adsorption of HCIO4(a)because of larger specific surface area, and the enhancement of electron transfer due to the long-range electronic connectivity of MSC ZnO.Therefore, our work can provide a promising catalyst to promote AP decomposition, and shed light on the catalytic mechanism of ZnO.
