With relatively less flow losses, Inertial Particle Separator (IPS) is recommended to scavenge the sand or dust from the main flow into the engines. The rectangular cross section IPS model was measured by PIV technique with different inlet flow rate and scavenge ratio. It was found that the recirculation region was varied by the influence of the wall. The numerical method was verified by the similar velocity profiles with the testing results. The annular inlet IPS model was analyzed by the numerical method. The flow field in the annular inlet IPS was quite different from that in the rectangular cross section IPS model. The velocity profile and the total pressure drop were both different. It suggested that the annular inlet IPS model should be analyzed and be optimized to improve the real IPS performance.
