Geoff is a Professor at Western Michigan University's (WMU) College of Aviation. Geoffs aviation career began as a navigator in the Royal Air Force before moving into civilian ab-initio pilot training and then academia in the United States. He earned his Doctorate from WMU in Evaluation, Measurement and Research, where his dissertation research focused on using single-case research designs to study pilots' performance degradation when transitioning from digital to analogue cockpit flight instrumentation. Geoff has published several papers on possible problems associated with using advanced technology in the cockpit for basic pilot training and is currently involved in funded research for the Federal Aviation Administration on Weather Technology in the Cockpit for General Aviation Pilots.
