A numerical method developed for a time-domain propagator solution of Maxwell's equations is presented. Numerical equations for the present time fields at each grid point are expressed as a combination of the adjacent previous time fields. A primary advantage of the Propagator Method is that all fields are coincident in time and space. The methods discussed here include extrapolation in time, necessary to maintain a fixed spatial increment, and boundary conditions. The numerical phase velocity as derived from the Propagator Method dispersion relation is also discussed. Examples showing wave propagation through multiple dielectric regions and scattering from dielectric objects are presented and compared with FDTD and exact solutions.
