Varnish Elimination for Gear and Re-Circulating Bearing Oils

The various sections of a modern papermaking machine expose about 1,500 different bearings to harsh conditions including water, heat, steam and paper dust. Each section has special lubrication requirements. The new OSP PAG based, Paper Machine Lube 320, is being used to lubricant the Yankee bearings. During the creping application, the pulp is processed with a Yankee dryer, a drying cylinder heated by steam. This dryer puts the pulp through a process called creping; hence the term "crepe paper." The hood above the roller dries the pulp with a forceful heat as the roller turns and a fine blade scrapes the tissue down to the soft, desired thickness. The tissue does not get completely scraped away, because the roller is first sprayed with adhesives. The wet paper and adhesives increase the weight of the cylinder. The Paper Machine Lube 320 is used to lubricant the Yankee bearings on either side (Below) These bearings are subjected to high load and temperatures with replacement costs of over $40,000 each.
