Two Stage Raw Water Intake - A Case Study of A Unique Flood Water Pump Station

This paper presents a flood water pumps station with the unique requirement of needing to pump a constant flow rate with a large variation in static head. An innovative two stage approach minimized the range of static head while utilizing a cost effective compact design. Model testing was conducted to both validate and optimize the design concept resulting in uniform conditions ensuring optimum pump performance.
