Space time adaptive processing (STAP) is one of the best technique for detecting slowing moving target against the strong ground clutter background. This paper applies amplitude and phase estimator (APES) to reject ground clutter in non-side looking airborne radar (Non-SLAR). Firstly, the APES method is applied to estimate the complex amplitude of clutter scatterers along the direction Doppler curve (DDC) of each range bin. Then, we reconstruct the covariance matrix of each range to mitigate the range dependence problem in Non-SLAR by using the estimated complex amplitude of clutter scatters. Finally, the simulation results show that the APES based compensation method can effectively mitigate the range dependence problem and improve STAP performance in non-SLAR.
