In our previous study we demonstrated that the employment of generalized receiver (GR) has superiority in comparison with implementation of the optimal receiver in the Neyman-Pearson sense in OFDM-BPSK wireless communication system. In this paper, we continue a discussion about the implementation of GR in OFDM wireless communication systems. We study the performance of OFDM wireless communication systems using the multilevel quadrature amplitude modulation (M-QAM) technique over the Rayleigh fading channel. We compare the performance of OFDM wireless communication systems with M-QAM technique employed the optimal receiver in the Neyman-Pearson sense and GR. Theoretical analysis and simulation demonstrate a superiority of GR implementation in OFDM wireless communication systems using M-QAM technique over the optimal receiver in the Neyman-Pearson sense.
