In this paper, a novel modeling method of battery pack for an optimal design and effective managements of battery is suggested. The proposed modeling method using single cell information makes an optimal design of battery pack possible by expecting the characteristics of the battery pack before the battery pack is manufactured. Also, the proposed battery pack model can be highly utilized in the battery management system because the proposed model is appropriate for the system model of existing state estimation algorithms for batteries by the benefit of its simple model structure. Furthermore, cell-to-cell variation and packaging elements are taken into consideration in the process of battery pack modeling for the model accuracy. The proposed modeling method of battery pack is verified with the help of simulation and experimental results based on Li-ion battery along with battery charger and discharger. The mean absolute percentage error and root mean square error of the proposed battery pack model in dynamic test are 0.407% and 0.065, respectively.
