A New High Resolution PWM Dimming Strategy for LED Lightings

摘要

This paper presents a new high resolution PWM dimming algorithm for LED lightings. The proposed algorithm is based on the average duty ratio control. High resolution dimming can be achieved by using the proposed algorithm without increasing the bit resolution of PWM. As a result, the proposed algorithm is useful for high frequency PWM applications such as LED lighting of photo/movie studios and machine vision systems.
