Depending upon the tissue configuration, structures, physiological, pathological status, and injected electrical energy, the biological tissue produce complex electrical impedance when alternating electrical signal is applied. So the bioelectrical impedance techniques can be used to find various characteristics of tissues and diagnose disease non-invasively. There is a wide range of application of bio electric impedance in healthcare for disease diagnosis and monitoring of body vital condition, food processing, chemical engineering, material engineering, civil engineering, geophysics and geosciences and various other industrial applications. Due to this we feel to review the fundamental aspects of various electrical bio impedance methods. Over past few decades, various bioelectrical impedance based methods are used for biological tissue characterization non invasively. These techniques are bio-electrical impedance analysis (BIA), electrical impedance cardiography (ICG), electrical impedance tomography (EIT), electrical impedance plethysmography (EIPG), electrical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), Electrical impedance mammography (EIM) and magnetic induction tomography (MIT). This paper consists of comparison between different bioelectric impedance techniques used for health monitoring.
