Electronic commerce (e-commerce) has potential to become one of Indonesian economy drivers in the future. Nevertheless, the increasing penetration of global social networking sites as marketplace platform would likely to threat the emerging local digital economy industry. This article reviews existing Indonesian e-commerce regulations amid this expansion. The discussion of the paper consists of three sections: 1) the Indonesian internet governance; 2) The existing e-commerce regulations and its challenges; 3) The possible policy recommendations to address the issues. This paper recommends the government should accommodate the interest of local ecommerce so that could be able to compete, at least, at the same level of playing field with the global ones. In addition, the government has to be able to take consistent legal action including blocking the global commerce provider if proven to violate the local regulations.
