Evolution of Social Hierarchy in 2×2 Games

Hierarchical social structures are often observed in human societies or in groups of social animals who usually live in groups. We investigate the effect of game structures on the evolution of the social structure, especially the hierarchical structure, in a group of interacting individuals. We present an evolutionary model of a population where individuals play a repeated 2×2 game where two players each has two options to choose, D (active/aggressive action: Daring, Dive) and C (passive action: Concede, Careful). The simulation results show that the evolutionary process for the game of leader brings about a linear dominance hierarchy among strategy (automaton) classes.
