The City of Portland through necessity has contracted to build pipes and tunnels for over 100 years using trenchlessmethods, that past shapes how the City develops better contracts and specifications for the future projects. It seemeda good time to discuss how past trenchless projects form our practices as the City begins a large pipe rehabilitationprogram. For the purposes of this paper emphasis will be placed on lessons learned to get trenchless work done inthe Portland environment.
