This paper reports a comparison of fatigue in seafarers and lorry drivers. The seafarers data came from the Cardiff Seafarers' Fatigue Research Programme and this was compared with a small survey of lorry drivers. Results showed that reported fatigue was similar in the offshore and onshore samples. The reported fatigue scores from lorry drivers were similar to the crew of ferries. These groups also reported reduced health compared to other sectors. The present results probably reflect the effects of frequent port-turnarounds and deliveries/drop-offs. The importance of these risk factors for fatigue requires further investigation.
