We report large values of the two- and three-photon absorption coefficients at 532nm (252 cm/GW) and 1064nm (160 cm{sup}3/GW{sup}2) in surfactant-capped CdS quantum dots. The cross-sections of absorption were approximately le-44 cm{sup}4s/photon (532nm) and 8e-73 cm{sup}6s{sup}2/photon{sup}2 (1064nm).
