Self-assembled metallo-dielectric photonic crystals with composite silver/silica colloidal spheres

摘要

We present fabrication of nanocrystalline-silver-decorated colloidal silica spheres, and their subsequent self-assembly into ordered metallo-dielectric photonic crystals. These materials are predicted to exhibit highly enhanced nonlinear optical response. Structural characterization and optical properties of the materials are discussed.
