摘要

A new approach is proposed for volume target heterogeneity estimation from polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (PolSAR) images. The approach is based on the analysis of novel type of polarization signature. This signature is a result of polarization synthesis of initial fully polarimetric data and subsequent analysis of local lacunarity of synthesized images. It is displayed as a 3D plot and can be produced for each point of an image. It is shown that signature of lacunarity can estimate the radar backscattering spatial variations of forests with different densities.
