A Musculoskeletal Model of Upper Limb for Disabled Extremity

In this paper, we propose a new musculoskeletal model (MSM) that can directly act on disabled extremities according to different stages of rehabilitation. Firstly, we build an upper limb MSM of health extremity. Then we calculate the torque generated by the health extremity, next considering the biological structure of the disabled extremity is the same as that of the health extremity, we use the principle of mirror image to mirror the torque generated by health extremity and the parameters of it to disabled extremity. Finally, according to physiology and Manual Muscle Test (MMT), we re-optimize the selected parameters in MSM to fit the real-condition of disabled extremity. The result exhibit that the MSM of disabled extremity is able to exhibit the ability of disabled extremity. In the next study, we will try to introduce it into rehabilitation robot control.
