Numerical simulation is key technique for power system dynamics study. It is time-consuming to perform simulations for large-scale interconnected power systems. To improve the computation speed of numerical simulations, external systems can be simplified as loads at boundary buses. The equivalent model of external systems is built with an AutoRegressive model with eXogenous inputs (ARX) from internal systems. To select proper inputs for building equivalent model, a delayed correlation coefficient index (CCI) is adopted in this paper to evaluate the influence of internal quantities on the boundary quantities. Simulations are performed with New England 39-bus model. Two equivalent models built with traditional CCI and the proposed delayed CCI are compared to verify the performance of the proposed equivalent model under faults of different types.
