This paper presents the size reduction of rectangular microstrip patch antenna. This antenna has been designed on substrate ε{sub}r=4.3, thickness 1.53mm and simulated using FDTD code. The simple patch antenna with dimension 36.08mm×29.6mm has been designed with center frequency of 233GHz. In this patch, the slot of dimension 10mm×5mm, 10mm×12mm, and 10mm×15mm has been created step by step to increase the length of current path along the λ/2 length of the patch. According to the dimension of the slot, the resonant frequency of the patch is shifted towards lower side at 1.91GHz, 1.49GHz and 1.19GHz respectively in comparison to simple resonant frequency 2.33GHz. This reveals thee reduction in size of antenna. The maximum size reduction of slot dimension 10mm×15mm has been achieved around 50% in comparison to the simple patch antenna.
