Cathodic protection is one of various ways of protecting structure most especiallypipelines that are liable to corrode. Corrosion is a physicochemical phenomenonaffected by multiple factors. The effect of these factors on corrosion depends on theirconcentrations and interactions with each other. A model considers interactions ofdifferent parameters with each other as well as their effect on the corrosion rate.Galvanic Anode is one type of cathodic protection and a study is done to check andmodel out its performance. The models were validated using data gotten from OilExploration and Production Firm in Nigeria and the relationships showed that therate of corrosion is dependent on the input temperature, input pressure, CO2 contentand water salinity. Also the amount of current required to cathodically protect apipeline is proportional to the listed conditions. It is concluded that though corrosionoccur both internally and externally, the tendency for corrosion to occur is moreprominent externally than internally.
