This paper will explore how information affects end-user decision models for complex, multidisciplinary products. Novel methods of how information is represented, dispersed, absorbed by the end-users and manipulated by designers in end-user decision models will be discussed. A decision and game theory based end-user decision model for the complex-multidisciplinary products of buildings and airplanes will be examined. Through this examination, the ability of the designer to manipulate the information of the end-user to affect the product's performance will be shown. This manipulation by the designer of the game that is being played by the end-users is referred to as mechanism design. The manipulation of information by a designer to affect end-user decisions is unique to this paper. This paper will prove that mechanism design will enable the designer to optimize their product goal.
