Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is looking at possible measures to better utilize the constrained noise capacity and/or improve the operational efficiency in terms of hourly capacity and fuel consumption. With respect to approaches five possible measures have been evaluated. A dual threshold with an increased glide path angle for the 2nd threshold makes best use of the noise capacity and it raises the hourly inbound capacity during good visibility with 2.5 aircraft per hour. A displaced landing threshold, dual landing threshold with normal glide slopes, the delayed gear extension procedure and GPS/GBAS curved approaches score respectively 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th on the usage of noise capacity.
