There is evidence demonstrating chemical heterogeneity among the different types of trees used in residential wood combustion throughout Chile. In general, the different chemical components of wood have diverse heat capacities, and not all wood is burned in the same way, so when we think of a residential wood combustion, it is best to choose hardwoods such as the Frutales and Luma to generate less emissions. The results of this study will be correlated with the emission factors measured in the Emissions Laboratory of the Catholic University of Temuco. These emissions are being measured according to the EPA-28 and EPA-5G methods, as well as through a mini-dilution tunnel. These results will be presented at upcoming scientific publication.
