Qingshan Coal Mine is serious in coal and gas outburst, so it is of significance to research the the features of gas geology. Based on the statistic of gas data collected from geological exploration and coal mining, the research reveals that: The gas content, gas pressure and gas emission rate are high at Qingshan Coal Mine, and the coal and gas outburst is very serious. And, the outburst risk in east part geological unit is more serious than that in west part geological unit. The controlling factors to gas geology at Qingshan Coal Mine are discussed, the serious gas hazard is the result of comprehensive effect by geological factors, the coal quality is advantageous to gas production, the complexity of structure, unstability of coal seam, feature of roof and floor and the structure of coal body are all favorable to the preservation of gas and are conducive to the coal and gas outburst. The significant differences are caused by Jianshanchong nappe in the complexity of geological structure and in the stability of coal seam between east part geological unit and west part geological unit, which controls the great difference in gas geology between east part geological unit and west part geological unit.
