摘要

The hardenability and cold cracking susceptibility of welding joints of SA543 steel were studied. The carbon equivalent method was used to predict its hardenability. The cold cracking susceptibility of SA543 steel was investigated through the Y-groove Cracking test, the maximum hardness test of heataffected zone (HAZ), and the implant test for welding cold cracking. The results indicate SA543 steel has a high cold cracking susceptibility. A preheating temperature of no less than 100°C for the butt welding of 80mm plate steel was recommended, which can improve the cold cracking susceptibility of the SA543 steel.
