Cellular adenosine triphosphate (ATP) release detection is of great importance owing to its signaling function. For increasing the electrode surface area and simultaneously maintaining the enzyme activity, a 3D Pt nanoflowers decorated micro-needle tip electrode has been fabricated through a simple method in this work. A dual enzyme ATP biosensor was developed by the co-immobilization of glucose oxidase and hexokinase on the surface of the 3D Pt nanoflowers decorated micro-needle tip. The simply fabricated ATP biosensor can be used for in situ determination of cellular ATP release with a sensitivity of 0.84 ± 0.10 nA μM~(-1) mm~(-2) to ATP and a low limit of detection (5 μM, S/N = 3). The proposed 3D Pt nanoflowers decorated microelectrodes are promising to be used for the determination of other neurotransmitters and cell secretions.
