SEALING SUITABILITY OF HARD-TURNED SHAFTS OPERATING WITH ROTARY LIP SEALS

The study has shown the influence of spiral turning grooves and profile slopes of hard-turned shafts in long-term tests. Normally, the pumping effect of spiral grooves can be neglected due to the very high pumping of the seal-ring. But if the pumping ability of the seal-ring is reduced by wear, hardening or oil carbon the pumping of the shaft gets significance.
