Woven materials have similar material properties to that of cartilage and are therefore of interest as a cartilage replacement, especially when a three-dimensional weave is considered [1]. During loading and unloading cycles, individual fibers within the material can encounter micromotion and associated abrasion; even under light loads, repetitive loading cycles can cause significant wear of the individual fibers leading to failure of the implant and unwanted wear debris that can cause bone resorption and osteolysis [2,3].
