Characterization of the mechanical properties of a blood vessel is essential in understanding the progression of a vascular disease and for computational studies of vascular adaptation. For example, stiffness of vascular tissue is one of the major indicators to diagnose the vascular disease and make a clinical decision. Although previous studies reported the heterogeneity of the mechanical properties of arterial wall along the arterial tree [2], little was taken account for its circumferential variations.
