The operational learnings from the Eco-Valley Facility in Japan triggered the next generation development of Alter NRG's plasma gasification technology. Along with the learnings from commercial operations, other technology advancements have been incorporated into the latest plasma gasification reactor design, including the replacement of bed material. Engineering technology such as Computational Fluid Dynamics and Process Modeling has helped Alter NRG optimize the gasification process. The focus of the fourth generation technical development is an improved design resulting in reduced operating cost, reduced capital cost, improved efficiency, and improved operability. For example, alternative bed material in some cases is only 30% of the cost of a metallurgical coke bed. Commercial operations and engineering continue to provide Alter NRG with further learnings which are incorporated into the gasification system design.
