摘要

The background and experiences of using Tribon Initial Design in teaching undergraduate ship design at Newcastle University, School of Marine Science and Technology, was previously reported at the 13th ICCAS in 2007. This paper revisits the strategies adopted to allow the software to become sufficiently 'student friendly' for use in a teaching context and reports on the developments to both the software and teaching strategies associated with the migration to AVEVA Initial Design. It also provides an opportunity to describe the more recent developments and experiences of this collaboration between Newcastle University and AVEVA Solutions. It is hoped, that these approaches and experiences will benefit others involved with the teaching of ship design and using similar software to support student project work.
