Artificial metamorphosis for self-growing adaptable interface

Insect metamorphosis is a distinctive and efficient nature system in which environmental stimuli clearly trigger the adaptive behavior of organisms. Until now, the information system community has not considered the mechanisms involved in the natural metamorphosis system. Inspired by the natural metamorphosis system of entomology, this paper aims to propose the concept of artificial metamorphosis as a novel self-growing adaptable method. Artificial metamorphosis consists of several parts: self-awareness of time to grow, autonomic decision-making as to how much to grow, and actual change. Vision and research issues to realize full-fledged artificial metamorphosis systems are also discussed.
