In order to solve the potential questions of the existing control system and accomplish the thermal equilibrium experiment of space camera successfully, a new intelligent control system for the gate of infrared heating array is designed. By use of the FPGA, the status of gate is analyzed, then the gate is controlled to be opened when the space camera takes photos and be closed automatically when the orbit external thermal flux is simulated. The manual operation is substituted by the new control system, and the automation and reliability is improved. The system has been successfully applied to the thermal equilibrium experiment of space camera, and the performance is proved to be superior to the application requirement
