In order to maximize the networks throughput and capacity, which routing metric should be used has become a key research problem recently for multi channel and interface wireless Mesh networks (WMNs). On the basis of analyzing the flaws of the existing routing metric, a novel link load-aware routing metric and algorithm called 1BRP are proposed which integrate the available bandwidth, delay, reliability and multi channel interference among links. Finally the feasibility of the proposed method is verified with protocol simulation. It is demonstrated in the simulation that the algorithm can improve the network packet delivery fraction, reduce the average delay and routing load greatly.
