Aiming at the license plate location problem under complex environment, this paper proposes an improved morphological processing algorithm. This algorithm using morphological processing can be better to restrain effects which are caused by interference information around the license plate area. First, the linear density distribution of edge points is calculated for removing edge points which have weaker linear density information; Then, by improving morphological structure elements, we will avoid the effect of noise points surrounding the license plate area and produce several candidate area of the license plate area. Finally, we can obtain license plate area due to the license plate structure feature. Judging from the experimental effect, this algorithm orientation-effect is good, particularly suited to process image with noise.
